The workshop’s overarching goal is to create a structured process for learning from Mexican mobility innovations and translating them into actionable lessons for German and European cities.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
i. Identify innovative, cost-effective, and inclusive mobility measures implemented
in Mexican cities.
ii. Understand their enabling factors—governance structures, financing,
community participation, and design choices.
iii. Assess their transferability and adaptation potential to German municipalities,
focusing on the NRW context.
iv. Co-develop a framework of collaboration in sustainable mobility.
v. Strengthen bilateral cooperation between Mexican and German research
institutions and practitioners.

GUIDING QUESTIONS
i. How have Mexican cities achieved visible progress in sustainable and low carbon mobility with limited resources?
ii. Which mechanisms made these innovations socially accepted and politically feasible?
iii. How can these approaches be integrated into ongoing planning and implementation processes in Germany?
