Michelle's research focuses on social learning for sustainable land use. She is an Agronomic Engineer with a Master in Rural Development from Buenos Aires University and a PhD and Habilitation from the Humboldt University of Berlin (HU).
She works on projects in Latin America, Asia and Africa, receiving 4 prizes for her academic performance. She worked at FAO and currently she is the deputy head of Susland group at ZALF and lecturer on Environmental Sociology at HU, and Assoc. Professor at UVV.

Prof. Dr. Robert Carcamo Mallen

Robert's research focuses on multiple crises, food security, and disasters, and he has conducted research in Latin America.​He currently serves as the project coordinator for the Science Innovation Germany and Mexico Alliance at ZALF. He is also the Europe-based coordinator of the Latin American Network for Rural Innovation (Red LatIR).
He has collaborated with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Food Programme (WFP), and the Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET).
